“We’re all interconnected, within our own bodies and as a community, and medicine should reflect that. “ ~Dr. Schuster
I don’t believe patients get the care they deserve from big health systems. These systems are forced into high overhead costs by insurance companies. They cannot provide personalized, focused care. It takes weeks or months to get an appointment that ends up being quick and generalized. None of that serves the patient’s best interest. I chose to become a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine (DO) because it focuses on the whole person.
With a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice, I have the time to really get to know a patient. I can figure out how to improve their overall health and well-being. This is what primary physicians are called to do, but it takes quality time with a patient. It takes time to build a relationship and to fully discover the root cause of a medical issue. Treating just the symptom is not the best way to care for someone. With a DPC practice, I am always available to my patients. I offer same-day and next-day appointments. Patients can meet when they need help via phone, tele-health, or in-person appointments. It is my belief that combining osteopathic medicine and a DPC practice is the best and most effective way to serve my patients.
In my DO practice, I look at the whole person, understanding the interconnectedness of all the body’s systems. My mission is to figure out how I can work with that information to help my patients grow as a person and improve their health. I pursued osteopathic medicine because I philosophically believe medicine should serve to truly care for patients. Compassion, integrity and responsibility are the personal and professional values that drive my treatment approach. It is a privilege to care for another human being and working as a partner, it is exciting to witness my patients achieve lifelong health.
The principle of osteopathic medicine lies in the concept that all systems in the body are interrelated and dysfunction in one part is likely to affect the rest. Count on me to listen to a patient to fully understand what health concerns exist. Just because someone suffers from headaches, it doesn’t mean the brain is the culprit. We will address the root cause of the health problem and work to regain balance among the systems. With over 23 years practicing medicine, I pride myself on knowing the most current and long-standing treatments in osteopathy.
With my extensive experience in osteopathic medicine and treatments, the benefits of a Direct Primary Care practice, and a commitment to working as a partner with all my patients, let’s take it one step at a time to help you achieve health and wellness, and live a full and balanced life.
